Parrots in need of a sponsor

Below are details of a small selection of our birds that desperately need a sponsor, if you would like to visit our Facebook page (Island Parrot Sanctuary) you will find a more comprehensive range of photos.

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP THEM

THANK YOU

Echo

This little darling is Echo when she first came in. She has been in with us for quite some time now.

Stanley

Stanley when he first came in to the sanctuary. Stanley is our darling, he is Mr obnoxious but we do love him. He has a stunted wing caused by having a bad clip. His character is fantastic. When he speaks he sounds like Sean Connery.

 Angel

Angels on her first day here. Angel is truly just that; an angel. She is so gentle and loving. Whenever she sees my Husband, she bobs her head and says "Hello good girl then blows him a big kiss"

**Angel is thrilled to tell everyone that she has a new foster family. Heartfelt thanks to the Russell family in Ontario.**

Jackie is a wonderful bird. She has a bit of a food problem, infact if you are looking for my wee darling you will find her on the food tray! When she came in she suffered from Vitamin A deficiency. She was much loved in her last home.

Shuggy is one of the most amazing birds in the sanctuary. His vocabulary is vast and his laugh is infectious. He is in an aviary with his friend Ari and is having loads of fun.

 Shuggy has a new sponsor.

Thank you Karen.

Our georgeous Marlon. This little bird has a zest for life and laughter. He fills my days with smiles and his dancing is amazing. Marlon has liver issues but he is getting better every day.

Marlon has a new Sponsor. Thank you Linda

 Dewy

Dewy is a wonderful bird full of bounce. He was very hormonal in his last home .

I am hoping that he will enjoy the sanctuary.

 Charley

Charley came into the sanctuary in April of this year. He was in a very sorry state. His head, chest and tail feathers were plucked and he was very defensive.

Charley's popularity has recently soared and he now has not one but THREE sponsor Mums! Thank you to our youngest sponsor 'Mummy' Becky, the wonderful Carole and also TV Vet Emma Milne.

If you would like to sponsor any of the birds above simply click on the word document, fill it in then email or post it to the sanctuary.  Thank you.

As you can see Echo has really improved. She is a shy girl with the sweetest voice I have ever heard.Sadly she still does not have a sponsor.

This is Stanley a few months ago and I am glad to say he has no plucked areas on his body now. He is enjoying being with the other Greys in the aviary.

Stanley is very excited as he has just found out that he has a new sponsor family. He wants to say a HUGE thank you to Becky and Cathy for choosing him.

Angel today. She is still as quiet but just as loving. She loves her toast in the morning and cuddles up to her friend Rosey every night. She loves playing with toys in her aviary and will chew her way through any wood she can get!

Jackie is now fully recovered and is flying in a very large aviary with her flock. She has the most wonderful voice, and her okeydokey has to be heard to be believed.

Shuggy went through a very bad moult this year as he does every year, but today he is looking amazing. His laughter and love of life keeps all the other birds on their toes.

Marlon is in the disabled aviary now. He is teaching all the other birds to dance and sing.

Marlon  is affectionately called my wee sexpot.

As you can see in the short space of time he has been with us he is sprouting feathers and looks like a little pompom.

Dewy is delighted to announce that he has a lovely new sponsor Mum.He wants to thank Margy for her love.

As you can see Charley is now a magnificent bird. He healed in about eight weeks and enjoys his life in the aviary with his friends. His "Who loves you baby?" in a Welsh accent is quite wonderful.

Sponsorship of our birds makes it possible for us to help. Many birds come from dreadful situations and your sponsorship is what helps these birds to get the care that they truly deserve.
Think about the costs of running your home. You do not consider the high cost of electricity, water, heating, cleaning and maintenance as a luxury since you need these every day to live comfortably. At the sanctuary our heating bill alone is enormous. We have volunteers on hand to ensure that the birds have what they need, that their living areas are always clean and the birds are happy and healthy. Our parrots are fed at least 3 times a day and they have their seed, nuts, fruits and veg available all day for grazing. The cost of seeds, nuts and supplements is an increasing concern. We are blessed to have fresh fruits and vegetables supplied by Lidls, but we still have the costs of special dietary requirements and meat and poultry for seventy plus hungry beaks is very costly. Add to this the things we all take for granted – lighting, hot water, brushes, pressure washers and cleaning equipment, as well as cleaning products and laundry and dish washer detergents. The list is endless, and that is only taking care of the BASIC needs of the healthy parrots. We have many birds that require constant medical care.
Your sponsorship will help cover the cost of food, housing, treats, toys, medical expenses and any other relevant expenses your feathered friend requires. You may sponsor as many birds as you would like and any bird may have more than one sponsor. 100% of donations received go towards the care of these precious birds. You can sponsor a parrot for any amount you choose. There is no set amount for sponsorship. This is a perfect gift for a loved one or in memory of a beloved family member. You can pick a bird, a flock or a flight to sponsor. Many of our birds are overlooked whilst others have several loving sponsors, please remember that all our birds need a loving sponsor. As a Sponsor you contribute to the basic care and well-being of the bird you sponsor but you are also caring for their friends and flock too, you are looking after so many precious birds.
The sanctuary feel strongly about education as this is a vital part of our mission. We are reaching out in an effort to inform the future generations of the problems caused and damage done when parrots are forced to live in captivity. We hope that by offering the opportunity of sponsorship many children and adults alike will be able to participate in the care of unwanted, neglected or abused parrots.
Schools, clubs, sporting groups and individuals may sponsor a parrot or have a representative from The Island Parrot Sanctuary come to their school, club or organisation to provide a fun and informative talk.
We have some amazing sponsors and we need more. The wonderful sponsors of our birds often send treats and toys for "their bird(s)" (and their bird’s friends and flock) and we are so appreciative of this. We are often asked if we rehome, we don’t. Birds live with their families in the wild for their entire lives just as we do. They do not adapt well to having several families in their lifetimes. We believe in providing a safe, happy and loving home for life and this means that we are not illegible to apply for many grants, so we really need your help.
The volunteers, The Board of Directors and most importantly, the beautiful birds at The Island Parrot Sanctuary wish to thank you for your caring support. Whether you are a donor, a sponsor, whether you helped with general support, loving emails or letters, laughed at our daft video and pledged £1 or fundraised on our behalf, whether you given 50p or £50, your kindness helps to benefit the birds who call our sanctuary their home. Your generosity ensures that these incredible birds will thrive and live out their lives in an atmosphere of loving care. Your commitment to the birds at our sanctuary is truly inspiring. Thank you.
