Every penny donated is used for the parrots, to provide them with food, toys, heated aviaries, and to cover the cost of veterinary fees, medication and treatment.

Ways of helping

Gifts in kind-

• Parrots in the wild spend much of their day looking for food and water. Birds in captivity do not need to do this therefore it is our responsibility to provide physical and mental stimulation. We strive to offer the birds here as much enrichment as we possibly can. This involves creating foraging areas and providing toys that require either physical or mental exertion. In order for us to continue to do this we need
• Toys - Children's or pet toys and also toy making parts
• Rope - Safe rope of all lengths and diameters
• Linen - Towels, cotton or fleece material to create 'hide' and snuggle areas. Some birds also wear made-to-measure jumpers to keep them warm as they have plucked their feathers, so material can also be used for this purpose
• Cardboard
• Pine cones
• Wind chimes
• Untreated wood
• Food colouring/flavouring to dye toy parts
• Seeds - for growing edible herbs and flowers

Since The Island Parrot Sanctuary's inception we have helped hundreds of birds and offered a permanent home to many birds. The majority of our birds have been neglected and/or abused.

We survive due to those people who care deeply about birds and believe in what we are trying to do for them. We simply could not operate without their financial support. It is frighteningly expensive to provide the birds with the correct level of medical care, dietary care and suitable housing. We operate on an extremely tight budget, with the current economic climate we have experienced a reduction in donations. Many of our birds arrive here in a heart-breaking condition and they require on-going medical treatment and a variety of therapies. Some birds will need medication for the rest of their lives.

We are a charity and we operate as a non-profit sanctuary. We are all volunteers and receive no financial gain. Administartion costs, stationary items, phone calls, fuel costs etc are all paid for by the volunteers. So you can be certain that if you donate 100% of your money will be used to benefit the birds.

The Island Parrot Sanctuary rely entirely on donations, these donations allow us to continue to care for all of these wonderful birds. There are so many ways in which you can help.

 

Sponsor a parrot -

We have many birds that would benefit from a caring sponsor.  The fee for sponsoring a bird/birds is used as a contribution to provide food, heating and aviary maintenance, husbandry costs and veterinary fees. You can choose to sponsor a bird or birds or alternatively a whole aviary. Let us know what bird/s you would like to sponsor. By sponsoring you are taking an interest in the welfare of a particular bird and helping our work. In return for your donation you will receive regular newsletters, photos and updates , a certificate of sponsorship and great appreciation from all of the birds. You can send your bird/birds special treats and gifts and you can even visit ( from April-October).

Sponsoring a bird/birds is also a great gift idea and  your gift  lasts a full year!

Island Parrot Sanctuary can offer your business a unique sponsorship package. We have hundreds of visitors every year. Our package can offer you ;

Fundraising at work can be a fun way of bringing colleagues together whilst raising money and awareness for a good cause.
